about the show
LET’S PAINT THE TOWN GREEN
💚🧚🍾
Fall truly, madly, and deeply for ABSINTHE: the hypnotic Luminesque show coming to CCPA Performance Hall in February. This intoxicating evening of Heels, pole, burlesque, and other aphrodisiac art is not just a fun night out… it’s a full-body experience.
Step behind the green velvet curtain into a decadent speakeasy where the rules of reality dissipate like smoke. Indulge in plush seats, sweet treats, romantic lighting, and decadent drinks that’ll immerse your imagination into our underground cabaret.
Once the lights go down, our Green Fairy - burlesque icon, Gaea Lady, reigning Queen of Tease herself - spins tales of lust, love, and longing that seduce the senses. Every dazzling dance by Luminesque Victoria, PoleCoven, and other special guests will have you falling deeper in love - with yourself, with this moment, and with sexuality itself. Finally, before you escape into the night air, thick with temptation - you’ll be invited to swing, sway, and sweat on a dance floor that transports you to a Parisian discothèque. 🧚
So don your most daring outfit, call up your hottest date (friend or lover), and get ready for the sexiest Love Day weekend imaginable. Get tickets to ABSINTHE on February 13 + 14 at CCPA Performance Hall - starting at only $30 per seat.
WE WISH TO ACKNOWLEDGE...
that we gratefully rehearsed for and are performing this show on the traditional territories of the (lək̓ʷəŋən) Lekwungen speaking Peoples, known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, and the W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples. We are committed to working to further decolonization through the platform of our business and community; and acknowledging the land and its keepers is one of many ways to do that.
WE ALSO WISH TO ACKNOWLEDGE... that dance is a part of culture, which involves and intersects with many histories, geographies, lived experiences, and generational inequalities. We dance to tell stories, which makes our modality a meaningful form of art that warrants respect and acknowledgment of its origins. Heels dance as an art is inspired and informed by cultures from the African diaspora, Latin American cultures, East Asian cultures, LGBTQ+ community culture, kink culture, and the sex work profession.
As a show focused primarily on human relationship and sexuality, we now more than ever want to acknowledge that Heels dance, pole dance, burlesque - and thus this show, would not be possible without the tireless determination of sex workers - especially trans, Black and Latinx strippers & sex workers - to fight for the right to work & live safely. The sex- positivity movement that allows us to dance in varying states of undress on public stages was started by and continues to be pushed forward by sex workers. We stand with you, we thank you, we love you, and we advocate for you. 💛
As participants in and appreciators of the aforementioned cultures, we are committed to dismantling the systems that seek to oppress them. We do so by examining our own biases, integrating diverse perspectives, investing back into these communities, continually educating ourselves, and creating a culture of accountability with our team, dancers, and advisors. We believe that by encouraging underrepresented voices and bodies to claim their space onstage and onscreen, we're contributing to building a world where everyone can shine.

POLECOVEN
GUEST POLE PERFORMERS
PoleCoven was founded in 2020, just as the global pandemic emerged at the forefront of our lives. Initially a program of Electra Productions, PoleCoven was created to support guest workshops and local performing pole artists in their training.
Now owned by Lucent Productions, PoleCoven has grown into its home in the heart of downtown Victoria, with its flagship studio space within Studio 4 Athletics.Throughout the pandemic, PoleCoven supported numerous local pole artists and instructors, debuting several local pole performers in their first in-studio show in December 2021.
In June 2022, we expanded to Dance Victoria, installing poles within their performance space and opening up new performance opportunities. In Spring 2023, PoleCoven began a new collaboration with Luminesque Dance Victoria, performing in their summer show Wild Thing at the Capital Ballroom.
In 2024, we further expanded our performance program, participating in both the winter and summer Luminesque Shows—The Invitation and Muses—also at the Capital Ballroom. Most significantly, we embarked on our first produced show, Thrive, at Dance Victoria.
We are dedicated to empowering individuals through the spellbinding art of pole dance. Our sanctuary nurtures personal growth, from your first spin to your standing ovation. We celebrate every body, cultivate unbreakable bonds of friendship, and transform pole journeys into a magical adventure of learning, self-expression, and strength. Here, you’ll refine your skills, push your limits, and captivate audiences as you bring your pole dreams to life on stage.
stay tuned for even more special guests coming soon!
