Dance ALL DAY in support of scholarships for dancers in need. 10 classes, 10 vibes... 1 awesome day of dance!

Tickets include access to all 10 dance classes throughout the day, but you’re encouraged to take breaks as you need. We will have reflection prompts and cool-down activities you're welcome to take part in whenever you take a breather.

This event welcomes dancers of all gender identities, all adult (19+) ages, and all levels of dance experience (even beginners). The day begins gentle and does ramp up to more advanced choreography/technique - so we encourage dancers to be aware of their own capacity and participate when they feel safe to do so, and watch to learn when they don't.

While our main focus is Heels, all classes are heels-optional and some classes are taught without heels. So gather your friends, grab your ticket, and get ready to dance ALL DAY in support of dancers in need!

As participants in and appreciators of these cultures, we are committed to dismantling the systems that seek to oppress them. We do so by examining our own biases, integrating diverse perspectives, investing back into these communities, continually educating ourselves, and creating a culture of accountability with our team, students, and advisors. We believe that by encouraging underrepresented voices and bodies to claim their space onstage and onscreen, we're contributing to building a world where everyone can shine.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO I NEED A TICKET?

Yes! Everyone must register for the event for $50 + GST via this link to participate. On the day, participants will say the name they used to register for the event and will be checked against a Guest List. If you sell your ticket to someone else, they will need to say your name at the door.

AM I EXPECTED TO DANCE THE WHOLE TIME?

NO! In fact, we strongly encourage you to take breaks. When you're taking breaks - you can watch and cheer on other students, go for a walk/chat outside, or stay and participate in our witnessing exercises and self-reflection worksheets.

WILL IT BE TOO HARD FOR ME?

Our goal is to start gentle and ramp up the level as we go - so the likelihood that you hit a moment in the day when you're feeling very challenged is very high! But we can learn so much from watching, too - so if you're feeling a bit over your head or if you're ever feeling unsafe, please feel free to proceed to the side, and be gentle with yourself. You're trying new things, and that's how growth happens (even if it's hard).

WHAT TO WEAR / DO I HAVE TO WEAR HEELS?

Come in clothes that are comfortable to dance in, and make you feel fabulous. If you’d like to wear heels, we recommend ones with good ankle support so you can last all day! If you don’t want to wear heels, that’s totally okay, just please bring running shoes as this event is in a club. Please note it is HOT in the studio in summer, so bring layers & a full water bottle!

WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?

As this is a fundraiser for charity, we are not able to offer refunds for registration fees. If you can no longer attend, you are welcome to gift/sell your ticket to another dancer, who can say your name at the door to be granted entry.

ABOUT LUMINESQUE DANCE

Luminesque Dance is the heels dance program and show, guaranteed to make you glow! Our mission is to provide expertly-designed heels dance training and professional dance productions that serve as an empowering, safer space to explore and celebrate underrepresented expressions of self and sexuality. We have locations all across the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples (AKA: Vancouver, North Vancouver, Squamish + Victoria). Our team is a collective of 40+ dance instructors, community builders, and trauma-informed educators.

Our PROGRESS program guides beginner to advanced dancers through the context, technique, and performance of heels dance in weekly classes, divided into several levels, for 5-month terms. The cast of 400+ dancers then celebrates their growth and connection through an epic production performed for an audience of thousands of supportive fans. PROGRESS does not require dance experience or an audition to join - everybody (19+) is welcome!
