trade your skills for dance education
Looking to subsidize the cost of dancing with Luminesque? Do you have valuable skills you think could help?
We’re excited to introduce the Work-Trade program, which is one of the many ways we seek to decolonize the dance industry.
IF YOU ARE A DANCER WHO:
Plans to participate in a Luminesque program this term, or in the near future
Has skills that align with our current needs for support
Has the capacity to deliver on all the requirements of the role
Understands Luminesque and aligns with our mission & values
Desires to contribute or be involved in the behind-the-scenes
Is committed to productivity and documenting their work hours
Would love to be part of the Luminesque HQ team
THEN YOU’RE AN EXCELLENT CANDIDATE FOR WORK-TRADE!
COMMITMENT TO EQUITY
We actively work to dismantle oppressive systems through the platform of our business, and to center the voices of those historically excluded from leadership. We strongly encourage applications from members of the Global Majority (BIPOC, AAPI), members of the Gender and Sexually Diverse communities (LGBTQIA2S+), women, those with disabilities or neurodivergence, and any other equity-seeking identity.
SEEKING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?
While the work-trade program is an effective way to subsidize the cost of dance, it also requires reliable commitment of time and capacity.
If you are seeking financial assistance that does not require additional labour, we suggest applying for Scholarships or using our Sliding Scale.

WORK-TRADE PROGRAM POLICIES
Acceptance of any Work-Trade offer letter/position means you agree to the policies listed below.
Work-Trade roles require regular check-ins, wherein if the role is not being fulfilled, it may be revoked, and the dancer will transfer to a regular payment plan for any services they have committed to; and are beholden to any refund/cancelation policies and fees.
All Work Trade in-kind value does not have any cash value, and can only be used as Account Credit towards dance offerings (cannot be used for merch, tickets, or Glow Giver Academy courses). It cannot be refunded, but it may be transferred. Credit never expires.
Credit is awarded at the time of completion of the work by default, but can be advanced by request, at the discretion of management. If the work is not completed after credit has already been advanced, any registration fees for programs already participated in are owed immediately.
Anyone in a Work Trade role is expected to uphold the Code of Conduct and act from the values of Luminesque to the best of their ability, anytime they are interfacing with the Luminesque community, which includes posting on social media to any public account. Any actions found to be in conflict with the Code of Conduct may result in termination.
All Work Trade roles are remote, unless explicitly mentioned, with the rest of the team joining from the unceded territory of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations"; as well as the traditional territory of the (lək̓ʷəŋən) Lekwungen speaking Peoples, known as the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples.
